Sustainable Design of Victorian Terraced House

Adams + Collingwood Architects have brought an Early Victorian terraced house in Camden Hill Square into the 21st century. Not only is the house strikingly contemporary in terms of Architectural design but also is a model example of sustainability. The house incorporates a state of the art grey water recycling system (www.ecoplay-system.com), ample insulation to external envelope and a centralised building management system. The centralised control can be accessed in any room and also remotely from the client's PC. It allows fine adjustment and monitoring of heating, lighting, data, and security installations. The system's graphic outputs show that at 5º outside temperature the house is hardly drawing on its heating system. The energy conserved from hot water generation, use of computers, solar gain etc is enough to keep the house warm to 21ºc.
