Phillimore Gardens
This interesting 1930's house on the Phillimore Estate was designed by Grey Wornum, the designer of the RIBA Headquarters building in Portland Place W1. It was a stripped classical building modified by modernist taste. A good example of the restrained excellence appreciated at the time.

As usual with a building of that period, the plan was not suited to today’s lifestyle, no family kitchen and a rabbit warren of stores and lock ups in the lower ground floors. The alterations rectified these deficiencies by adding a new extension into the garden to accommodate the family/kitchen/breakfast living area and the whole lower ground floor was stripped out to accommodate the caretakers flat, home office, fitness room and billiards room. A further underground extension was excavated to make an internal swimming pool. The Grey Wornum curved stair was extended to make a grand entrance into the lower ground floor and to the new home entertainment room that was added to the top of the house.

The whole house has been transformed from a rather modest understated property to one of the most highly desirable, complete and unique houses in London. The project took two years to complete from start to finish. During that time we achieved a favourable planning consent for the alterations, and detailed the highly refined interior that was developed and designed in conjunction with the renowned Interior Designer Veere Greeney.
