Thornton Hill
This is a stunning example of what can be done with a modest small house in Wimbledon. The new house is spacious light and airy with a great aspect over the large garden. It has been totally modernised but without losing the arts and crafts character of the original. The secret of this project was to move the staircase to the new extension. The new staircase formed a feature in the front elevation, in addition to being the centrepiece of the crafted interior and the daylight source to the circulation areas. Then new part of the house extended out over the slope of the hill so additional lower ground floor accommodation was achieved without the cost of excavation of a full basement.

We not only carried out all the design of the structure and fabric but also resolved all the interior architectural features with the client without the need for an interior designer. The result was not only an exterior of architectural significance but also an interior to suit.
